Dr. C. P. Thakur’s A Journey of Hope and Belief tells the inspiring story of a man born into a humble farming family in North Bihar, who overcame childhood illness (kala-azar) to become a distinguished doctor, scientist, and statesman. After completing his MRCP from both London and Edinburgh, his pioneering research on kala-azar earned him worldwide recognition. For his remarkable contributions, he has been honored with the Padma Shri (1982), Dr. B. C. Roy Award, and the Padma Bhushan (2024) among many other national and international accolades, including the WHO Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 1984, he entered public life as a Member of Parliament from Patna and continues to serve people with dedication even today. In this photo, Dr. S. N. Pandey is presenting the book sent by Dr. Thakur for the Dr. Zakir Husain Institute Library. This book stands as a matter of great pride and will serve as a lasting source of inspiration for our students
